As the retention process was completed last month, Now it’s time for the mega auction to be held. All the eight existing teams had retained some players where the two new franchises have time to select a maximum of three (Two Indians + one overseas) players from the list of non-retained players.
All the Eight existing teams have retained some players like Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals And Kolkata Knight Riders have retained 4 players. Royal Challengers Bangalore, Rajasthan Royals, and Sunrisers Hyderabad have retained three players and Punjab Kings is the only team that has retained only two players.
A total of 27 players have been retained by the existing franchises and the rest of the players are in the list of non-retained from where the new teams Lucknow and Ahmedabad can pick a maximum of three players or can also not select any player and go in the auction with 90 Crores. After the new franchises pick their players, the rest will come under the hammer in the mega auction.

IPL 2022 auction to be held in Bangalore?
One of the BCCI officials confirmed that the auction will take place on February 7 and 8 in Bangalore (Bengaluru). And according to many reports, this could also be the last mega auction as many teams owners don’t agree on Mega auction at a regular interval.
The auction is also getting delayed as there are discussions going on about CVC sports, the firm which about the Ahmedabad based franchise.
And BCCI can soon hold a meeting as well with the team owners to discuss alternative plans if the number of Omicron cases increases lately.
