The 15th edition of the Indian Premier League will have two new teams, making it a 10-teams tournament. The Battle between the teams is half won at the auction table and this time around after limited retention. The teams need to pick players according to their requirements to make a good squad.
Date, time, and Venue of the Mega auction
According to the latest report issued by Cricbuzz- BCCI officials have confirmed that the franchise owners were recently intimated of IPL 2022 Mega auction details via IPL officials. They have been informed that the mega auction will be on two dates,
which the is 12th and 13th of February.
Bangalore(Bengaluru) is selected as the place where the event will take place if the Covid-19 situation in the nation is under control otherwise it will be shifted to the United Arab Emirates. The kick-off time will be around 3:30 PM (IST) according to multiple reports.
A total of 27 players have been already retained by the eight existing franchises. And the two new franchises (Lucknow and Ahmedabad) have a choice of either selecting maximum of three players (2 Indian + 1 overseas) from the list of non-retained players or going into the auction with the purse of 90 Crores.
After that as usual, around thousand-odd names will get collected, and from that 250-300 will go under the hammer as the franchises will shortlist the names according to their requirements.
About the Two new Franchises
RPSGthe owns the Lucknow franchise while CVC Capital Partners the owns Ahmedabad franchise.
Earlier some allegations were put on Sanjiv Goenka’s Lucknow franchise as they were accused of “poaching” Rahul and Rashid from their previous franchises but according to the latest news they have been given a green signal from the BCCI.
Ahmedabad-based Franchise is under scan after Lalit Modi signaled that CVCCP “owns a big betting company”. But BCCI has cross-checked every aspect of it and most likely CVCCP- the British equity and investment company will own the Ahmedabad franchise.
