Sunil Gavaskar, the former Indian opener made some big statements about Jasprit Bumrah and the complete Indian bowling unit while talking to Star. Gavaskar believes that Jasprit Bumrah, India’s primary and elite pacer will walk into any T20 team in the World.
Here’s what Sunil Gavaskar said about Jasprit Bumrah
“There is Bumrah. Don’t forget him. He will walk into any team in the world, not just the India team, any team. Then you have Mohammed Siraj, Mohammed Shami…spoilt for choices,”
Jasprit Bumrah is considered to be one of the best pacers in the world. The 28-year-old is a complete fast bowler. He has pace, accuracy, and variations that most of the bowlers are unable to produce. Bumrah will be India’s x-factor and will play a crucial role in the Indian team’s outcome in the upcoming World Cups.
The 28-year-old plays a crucial role in Mumbai Indians’ setup and is rated highly by the management. He was Mumbai Indians’ second retention for IPL 2022. The pacer has been named as India’s vice-captain for the upcoming T20I and Test series against Sri Lanka as Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul will not be available. The 28-year-old was rested from the ODI and T20I series against West Indies to manage his workload after a long South Africa tour.
Here’s what Sunil Gavaskar said about Deepak Chahar and other Indian pacers
“He is a terrific swing bowler. He has that extra space as well. Chahar isn’t express but he gets the ball to move at a decent pace which makes it difficult for a batsman. And he has got both the in-swinger and the out-swinger without a noticeable change in action which makes it difficult. So when you have someone like him and have Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the bench after two fine performances in the series, India are blessed as far as riches in bowling are concerned,”
Deepak Chahar pulled his right hamstring in the third T20I against West Indies. The pacer will miss the upcoming T20I series against Sri Lanka which is starting on February 24. He might miss the first few matches of IPL 2022 too.
