The England and Welsh Cricket Board managed to make headlines with its unique offer to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). A prominent English media company namely The Telegraph recently reported that ECB has officially offered BCCI to host a bilateral series between arch-rivals India and Pakistan.
Responding to ECB’s tempting offer, An BCCI official confirmed that the Sourav Ganguly and Jay Shah-led Indian board is not interested in English Cricket Board’s offer while speaking to Press Trust of India. The official further added that India will not play against the Men In Green in any bilateral series at the moment.
The India-Pakistan bilateral series scenario:
India has not featured in any bilateral series against Pakistan for more than a decade now due to sensitive border situations and political conflicts. The two top international sides only play against each other in multi-nation tournaments which include ICC events such as World Cup and Champions Trophy as well as the Asia Cup.
The marquee teams squared off twice in the recently-concluded Asia Cup 2022. The Rohit Sharma-led side was victorious in one game, while the Babar Azam-led unit was victorious in the other. India and Pakistan will next appear in a match in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022.
Iceland Cricket comes to the rescue:
Meanwhile, The official Twitter handle of Iceland Cricket, which is renowned for its humorous style of content has extended its assistance. The Witty Twitter account of the Iceland Cricket Board has also expressed its willingness to host an India-Pakistan bilateral series.
The offer includes some amusing facilities like three tests in Reykjavík, 24-hour daylight, the use of Sword joust for the toss, Sniper security, Volcanic Ashes trophy as well as 15 consecutive sessions of play per Test.
“We hear ECB Cricket have offered to host a Test series between India and Pakistan. We officially announce to ICC that we are also offering to do the same & can provide near 24-hour daylight in June and July, as well as better Tweets covering the matches. Sniper security too.” wrote Iceland Cricket in one of their Tweets.

This is the Volcanic Ashes trophy for when Pakistan play India in a 3 Test series here. It's currently given to the winners of our indoor club tournament, but we can create a new mickey mouse event & trophy for them. Filled with ash from our eruptions & set in a basaltic base. pic.twitter.com/e9K30bJBi9

We are not one to suggest new rules, but the approach in this video is certainly one we could adopt if the 3 Test series between Pakistan and India was drawn. Someone needs to take home that inaugural Volcanic Ashes trophy. https://t.co/9VKLtNyvmr

So would the India v Pakistan Tests in Reykjavík be day, day-night or night matches given the 24 hour daylight?
Think of it as a day-night match without the night. Like a prawn salad without the prawns.
The 15 sessions could be played continuously, easing the crowded calendar.
