Ajinkya Rahane has been in the spotlight for his inconsistent performance, his graph has just gone down after his famous hundred at the Melbourne Cricket Ground during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in 2021.

“I just smile when people says my career is finished, people who know the sport don’t talk like that – everyone knows what happened in Australia/even before it, my contribution in red ball – people who love the sport will talk sensibly,” said Rahane.

Ajinkya Rahane, former Vice-Captain of the test side said a bold statement regarding the decisions which he took in the 2020-21 Australia tour but someone else took the credit for it. Further, he also addressed the critics questioning his place in the Indian Test team.
The reactions that came later, or the credit that was taken, or whatever was spoken or emerged on the media… things like ‘We did this. It was our decision. It was our call,’. It’s what they had to say but from my end, I knew what decisions I took. We also spoke to the management but inside me, I would laugh knowing the modestly which I had shown and what followed,” he added.

Ajinkya Rahane has scored 547 runs in 27 innings, with three half-centuries and a high score of 67. During this period he averages only 20.25 and his test average has dropped from 43 to under 39.

When asked about his future he confidently replied “Yes, I believe in my abilities. I’ve been batting really well and I believe I still have good cricket left in me”.
According to various reports, Ajinkya Rahane will be dropped from the upcoming home Test series against Srilanka. He will go back to Ranji Cricket and play for Mumbai under Prithvi Shaw’s leadership.
