Yuzvendra Chahal, India’s primary leg-spinner has been around the national team for almost 6 years now. He has managed to produce several match-winning performances for the Indian team and in the IPL as well for multiple years.
Chahal had to miss out on Indian selection in T20 World Cup 2021 as Rahul Chahar and Ravi Ashwin were given the first preference. His performance suffered and saw a dip from 2020 to 2021. However, The leg-spinner has announced his comeback in style in international cricket as well as the IPL.
The leg-spinner represented the Virat Kohli-led RCB for the most part of his career. What surprised everyone is that he was not retained by Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 15th season of the Indian Premier League. Rajasthan Royals were clever enough to pick him for an amount of INR 6.50 CR.
The 31-year-old is currently the purple cap holder in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League. He has managed to scalp a whopping 24 wickets so far in IPL 2022. Chahal has played a massive role in Rajasthan Royals’ success in the same season.
Yuzvendra Chahal takes the Virat Kohli challenge :
Yuzvendra Chahal caught some limelight for making some sarcastic remarks in the recent interaction with ESPNcricinfo. The leggie was asked to talk about his batting but he ended up making some huge statements (sarcastic).
Chahal claimed to break Virat Kohli’s record of scoring the most runs in an IPL season. He also went on to say that he will score 10 tons in 10 IPL matches. The sarcastic statements by the leg-spinner left the interviewer in splits.
Here’s what Yuzvendra Chahal said: “If I had a chance to open – Then I would have broken every record, not just Jos Buttler. I think even Virat Kohli bhaiya’s record [973 runs] is left for me only. I’m going to break that record. I will break that record in 10 matches only because in every match I have to score a hundred, no? (laughs)”
