IPL 2023: We are now just one sleep away from the beginning of the approaching Indian Premier League season. The much-anticipated season of the Indian Premier League — IPL 2023 — is all set to begin tomorrow (March 31) with a season opener between Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings. The electrifying clash will get underway this Friday after an hour-long opening ceremony at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium of Ahmedabad.
Delhi Capitals, the renowned IPL franchise, was stuck by a massive injury blow ahead of the upcoming IPL season. Delhi will miss the services of their skipper Rishabh Pant in IPL 2023 following the young Indian batter’s major road accident last year. Pant suffered multiple injuries due to the same and is unlikely to return to playing Cricket anytime soon. The Delhi-born Cricketer led the Delhi-based team for two consecutive years and it will be challenging for the team to fill his void this time around.
Netizens unhappy with Rishabh Pant’s latest commercial
Meanwhile, Zomato, a leading Indian food delivery platform, partnered with Rishabh Pant for an advertisement campaign ahead of the IPL 2023. There was a notable build-up produced by Zomato, indicating Pant’s comeback before the AD was published. Pant was heard saying ‘I am still in the game boss and I am coming to play’ in the advertisement — referring to ZPL — Zomato Premier League. It was a clever AD campaign from Zomato, which ultimately managed to upset a few of the fans.
“Cricket and food. Two things I can’t live without. I haven’t been able to play cricket in the last few months. But the doctor did tell me to eat properly. So I had lots of healthy food at home…the cricket season was starting soon. That’s when I felt that if everyone is playing, why not me? I am still in the game boss! I am coming to play,” said Rishabh Pant in the Zomato commercial

Moreover, Rishabh Pant is likely to join the Delhi Capitals’ dugout during a few of the home fixtures at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Capitals are yet to name his replacement for the all-important IPL season, however, Multiple media reports recently claimed that, Abhishek Porel, a wicketkeeper batter from Bengal is set to replace Pant in Delhi’s lineup for the IPL 2023.
