In cricket, there are various strict rules that every cricket player doesn’t want to break. Breaching these rules can have the worst impact on the career of players. Match-fixing has destroyed the career of many players. As ICC or any other cricket board won’t accept these types of mistakes and activities by players.
Slow overrate is another rule which has the worst effect on the career of cricket players. Slow overrate basically rule which is mainly posted on the captain of the bowling side. When a team is fielding the captain has to finish the match in the scheduled time. If there is a delay in overs or delivery then it is known as slow over rate.
4 fielders instead of 5 outside of 30 yards on breaching of slow over-rate
Earlier, if a team is found guilty under slow overrate then heavy fines are imposed on the captain or vice-captain. Now according to clause 13.8 of ICC, which clearly states that if a team Finds guilty and slower rate then instead of five fielders four fielders are to be placed outside a 30-yard circle.
Basically, according to new rules, every overs should be some up in a scheduled time if a team is found not moving according to schedule time, Then from the next over four fielders are to be placed outside a 30-yard circle. There are certain good things that come up in new ICC rules.
In IPL we have a strategic timeout of 2.30 seconds in each innings. The same has been imposed in T20 cricket but it should be implemented only before the start of the series on the recommendation of both sides. The rule of slow overrate came into effect in India vs Ireland T20 match on 17 January 2022.
They have also introduced a slow overrate for test matches. If the slow over-rate policy has been breached in WTC then the team has to come and sit on the points table.
