India is traveling to South Africa for 3 tests and 3 ODI games later this month. On Wednesday 15th December, a pre-departure press conference happened, where Indian Skipper Virat Kohli addressed all the queries.
A few days ago, after the announcement of the new Captain in the ODI format,
Sourav Ganguly, BCCI president stated that
“We (BCCI) had requested Virat not to step down as T20I captain. There was no plan to change captaincy.”
“But he stepped down as T20I captain and the selectors decided not to split limited-overs captaincy, opting for a complete separation.”
But Today in the pre-departure press conference, when the reporter asked Virat Kohli about the Captaincy, he went on to speak something else which shows a clear communication gap between the BCCI and the Captain.
Virat Kohli said about T20 Captaincy
“When I approached BCCI about T20I Captaincy, it was received very well. It was called a progressive call. I was not told to not leave the T20I Captaincy.”
About availability in the ODI series.
Virat also made it clear that he is available for the selection of the upcoming ODI series which has put a full Stop to many reports which stated that the former ODI captain would like to take a rest during that Odi Series.
He said- ” You should ask these questions who are writing these articles and sources. All these people who are writing are not credible – I am always available for selection in ODI “.

I was contacted 1.5 hours before the selection committee meeting. The chief selector discussed the test team and before ending the call the selectors told me that I won’t be ODI Captain and I was FINE. There was no PRIOR COMMUNICATION. – Virat said
