The five-member BCCI selection committee announced India’s squad for the upcoming ODI and T20I home series against New Zealand yesterday (January 13). The Chetan Sharma-led selection committee additionally named the squad for the first two matches of the Border-Gavaskar trophy 2023 (against Australia). The New Zealand series and Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 will officially occur during the January-March window.

Murali Vijay is a well-known commodity of Indian Cricket. The right-hander has represented the national side in as many as 61 Tests, 17 One-Day Internationals and 9 T20 Internationals. “I am almost done with BCCI and looking for opportunities abroad. I want to play a little bit of competitive cricket. After 30 in India, it’s a taboo (smiles). I think people see us as 80-year-olds walking on the street. The media should also address it differently. I feel you are peaking in your 30s.” said Murali Vijay during a show on Sportstar
“Sitting here right now, I feel I can bat the best way I can. But unfortunately, the opportunities were less, and I had to search for chances outside. I honestly feel as a person, you can only do what’s in your hand. You can’t control the uncontrollable. Whatever happened happened,” the opening batsman further added
