T20 World Cup 2022: After a brilliant outing in the group stage, Team India’s campaign in the ongoing T20 World Cup got concluded following an embarrassing defeat in the semi-final against India. The Men In Blue showed unprofessional performance in the all-important semi-final which eventually eliminated them from the tournament.
The Indian team looked shattered after the shocking defeat, while the fans on social media were visibly furious as the 9-year-long anticipation for an ICC title continued. Team India will now head to New Zealand for a full-fledged limited-overs leg, where they will feature in a three-match ODI and T20I series. India will play the series with their second-string side as multiple senior players have been rested by the BCCI.
Ghar me sirf ek buzurg hone chahiye: Ajay Jadeja
Meanwhile, former Indian cricketer Ajay Jadeja expressed his disappointment after India’s semi-final exit during an interaction with Cricbuzz. Jadeja specifically criticized the Indian captain Rohit Sharma due to his absence in multiple series throughout the last year. The 51-year-old believes that Sharma should have played most of the matches in the T20 World Cup year as he was leading the team.
Rohit Sharna’s performance in the T20 World Cup 2022 remained highly unimpressive. The opening batter is one of the formidable members of the batting lineup and his inability to score runs haunted the team big time. The Mumbaikar failed to contribute significantly in any of the games except the Netherlands encounter. He unquestionably had the campaign to forget.
“I would say one thing which might hurt Rohit Sharma if he is listening. If you have to make a team as captain, you have to stick with the side for the entire year. How many series did Rohit Sharma play this year? I’m not saying this in hindsight,” said Ajay Jadeja speaking to Cricbuzz
“I’ve been saying this since before. Even for the upcoming New Zealand tour, the coach is not traveling. There should only be one leader (buzurg) in the team. If there are 7, it would be difficult.” Jadeja further added
The Indian senior players including Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will directly be back in action after a month-long break. They will join the team in the first week of December ahead of the one-day international and test series in Bangladesh.
