The Indian team started their campaign in the ongoing highly-anticipated Asia Cup 2022 with a win over their arch-rivals Pakistan. The full-fledged Rohit Sharma-led team registered a clinching victory in the last-over thriller after managing to hold their nerves last Sunday (August 28).
The win over Pakistan was followed by another clinical performance against Hong Kong. The Men In Blue beat the Nizakat Khan-led side by a whopping 40 runs in order to become the first team from Group A to qualify for the Super 4 phase in the marquee Asian Tournament.
India is now eyes on their upcoming games which will eventually enable them to make it into the Final of the elite tournament. They will take on Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan on September 4, 6, and 8 respectively with the final scheduled to be played on September 11.
Mohammad Hafeez takes a dig at Rohit Sharma:
Meanwhile, Pakistan veteran Mohammad Hafeez slammed Indian Captain Rohit Sharma for showing poor body language in the game against Hong Kong. The Pakistani went on to call the Mumbaikar ‘scared and confused. He wants Sharma to lead the team by example.
Hafeez believes that it will be tough for the marquee opening batter to continue as India’s captain as he thinks that captaining the side is taking a toll on him. The Pakistani all-rounder received a lot of backlash from the fans for his ‘Immature’ comments on the Indian captain.
Here’s what Mohammad Hafeez said:
“Look at his expression. This is Rohit Sharma’s expression after the game finished. And they won by 40 runs. His body language was weak when he came out to toss. I thought he was scared and confused. I can’t see Rohit Sharma whom I know. It is easy to talk but it is hard to do it.”
“And this is my prediction, I think that it will be hard to continue captaincy for Rohit Sharma. I have always seen him enjoy it, but right now he is not expressing himself. He looks lost and he has too much pressure on him. I feel sorry for him.”
