The Indian team marked their comeback to the international cricket with a home T20I series against South Africa after a long season in the Indian Premier League. The five-match series is on the verge of getting concluded with a series decider remaining.
The visitors started the series with flying colors as they managed to register wins in both the first matches. However, The Men In Blue bounced back hard to win the next two matches back-to-back to stay alive and level the series by 2-2.
The series decider will be played today (June 19) at the iconic Chinnaswamy stadium, Bangalore. The hosts will fancy their chances to bag the series today itself as the visitors are hit by several injuries blows.
Zaheer Khan criticizes star Indian player:
Meanwhile, Zaheer Khan, The former Indian left-arm spinner is not impressed with the captaincy of stand-in Indian captain Rishabh Pant. He believes that there are a lot of similarities between his captaincy and his batting style as he takes a lot of risks.
Khan confessed that the wicket-keeper is being over-instinctive when it comes to making decisions during the game. He admitted that Pant has a lot of pressure as he is constantly being talked about by the fans and the experts.
“When he (Rishabh Pant) scores run, people talk about him. When he doesn’t, people still talk about him. There’s a similar style of pattern in his captaincy. We have to give him time. He likes to think out of the box. He tries to follow his instincts far too much. He likes to take a lot of chances.” said Zaheer Khan.
“He has to find that balance when he makes extreme decisions. It’s just like his batting. One thing that stands out about him is that he is very serious about his cricket. That no one can question. He is very passionate about the game. He wants to do things at a rapid pace. With time, he will get what he wants because he knows where he is headed,” he added
