Hardik Pandya’s return to his original IPL franchise Mumbai Indians surprised and strangely upset many including pacer Jasprit Bumrah. Having been an absolute IPL veteran, Bumrah was considered the front contender to claim Mumbai Indians’ captaincy after Rohit Sharma. However, Hardik Pandya’s re-inclusion in the team puts major question marks over Bumrah’s MI captaincy prospect.
Mumbai Indians, the five-time Indian Premier League champions, pulled off the biggest trade in the history of the league earlier this week. Following the retention deadline, Mumbai Indians earned ace all-rounder Hardik Pandya back in their lineup with a successful trade with Gujarat Titans. The marquee trade was valued at a whopping 15 crore INR, making it the grandest IPL trade thus far.

You Cannot Find Another Player Like Jasprit Bumrah: Krishnamachari Srikkanth
Krishnamachari Srikkanth, who was part of India’s 1983 World Cup triumph, sympathized with Jasprit Bumrah following the mysterious Instagram story. Srikkanth stated that Bumrah possibly encountered a feeling of betrayal seeing Hardik Pandya returning to MI. The 63-year-old suspects that overly celebrating Pandya’s homecoming might make things worse and expects clear communication from the franchise.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, here’s what Krishnamachari Srikkanth said:
“You can’t find another cricketer like Jasprit Bumrah. Be it Tests or white-ball cricket, he is one of the best going around. He gave it his all in the World Cup. He might have regrets. He would have been hurt. He must be feeling that he stayed back with MI, but the franchise is now celebrating someone who left and came back. He might feel it is not fair.”
“I am sure the team management will sit with Pandya, Bumrah, and Rohit and sort out things. I would have been hurt too if something like that happened to me. I don’t know whether it’s a lack of communication. Something must have happened. If he is getting annoyed, obviously, something must have happened,”
