The star Indian fast bowler namely Ishwar Pandey officially announced his retirement from International and first-class cricket yesterday (September 13). The right-arm pacer shared a heartwarming post on his official Instagram handle, making the development public.
“Today the day has come and with a heavy heart, I have decided to retire from International and First class cricket. I began this incredible journey in 2007 and till date I have enjoyed every single moment spent on and off the field.” wrote Ishwar Pandey in his retirement statement.

Pandey failed to mark his presence in any of the matches for the Indian national team, however, he featured in 25 matches of the Indian Premier League. The 33-year-old was part of MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings and Rising Pune Supergiants a few years back.
Ishwar Pandey was part of India’s Test and ODI squad on their tour to New Zealand back in the year 2014 but was eventually sidelined due to tight competition in the pace bowling department. He has a whopping 75 first-class games to his name, playing from Madhya Pradesh.

Meanwhile, Pandey has made some revealing statements regarding captain MS Dhoni during one of his recent interactions with Dainik Jagran. The paceman expressed that he was not properly backed by Dhoni, who was India’s all-format captain back in 2014.
Here’s what Ishwar Pandey said:
“Had Dhoni given me a chance my career would have been something else. I was 23-24 years old at that time and my fitness was great. Had Dhoni given me a chance to play for India and if I had performed then my career would have been different,” Pandey was quoted as saying by Dainik Bhaskar.
The former Indian skipper MS Dhoni is known for backing players, especially youngsters. Fans rate him high when it comes to giving confidence to young players. However, Ishwar Pandey’s cryptic remarks have certainly raised some eyebrows in the cricketing fraternity.
