The highly anticipated five-match Test series between India and England kicked off on January 25 in Hyderabad. Ben Stokes-led England marked an almost impossible comeback in the opening Hyderabad Test to hand India a 28-run defeat. It was Ollie Pope, the English top-order batter, who played a marathon innings, missing out on his double century by just 4 runs. Owing to a sublime knock of 196 runs in 278 deliveries, Pope was named the player of the match in Hyderabad.

Prashant Vaidya Tangled In A Cheque Bounce Case
Meanwhile, the latest media reports suggest that former India pacer Prashant Vaidya was formally arrested in a cheque-bouncing case. The Nagpur police, on Wednesday, had reportedly executed a non-bailable warrant against Vaidya after he failed to pay an amount worth INR 1.9 crore to a local steel trader. A total of 9 bounced cheques from Vaidya were reported, becoming the primary reason behind his way behind bars.
“He (Prashant Vaidya) had allegedly purchased steel from a local trader and issued a cheque which bounced, following which the trader demanded that he make fresh payment (which he allegedly denied),” said Inspector Vitthalsingh Rajput of Bajaj Nagar police station
