In the ongoing T20 league in Australia, Colin Munro tried to play a paddle scoop but failed miserably. He was playing the scoop from way outside the off-stump and then got bowled.
This incident happened in the 17th match of the Big Bash League between Melbourne Renegades and Perth Scorchers. Colin Munro, who is having a great tournament till now, had a different role in this match. As he was shifted in the middle order.
Colin Munro tried to play a paddle scoop against Kane Richardson on the 4th ball of the 16th over and went on to lose his wicket. Munro went on to leave the off-stump and then got bowled. Credit goes to Richardson, who cleverly bowled a slower ball which Munro ended up hitting straight onto the stumps.

The commentary of the delivery
K Richardson to Munro, out Bowled!! Chops it on! Bizarre dismissal for Munro! Not always that you see a batter trying to play a paddle scoop from way outside off the stump and then getting bowled. Was the slower ball from Richardson cleverly took the pace off and followed Munro who ended up hitting it straight onto the stumps. Whoa! Much-needed breakthrough for the Gades although obviously, they would have wanted Mitchell Marsh out.
Summary of the match
Aston Turner won the toss and elected to bat first. The start was decent for Perth as they lost a single wicket of Josh Inglis and scored 31 runs in the powerplay. But the hero of the T20 World Cup, Mitchell Marsh. Once again showed his class as he scored a brilliant inning of 86 runs in 56 deliveries including 5 fours and 5 sixes.
And the firecrackers from Laurie Evans scored 42 runs off just 16 balls and helped Perth to post a score of 206 runs in 20 overs. Kane Richardson was a stand-out performer with 3 wickets in 4 overs’ spells.
While chasing Melbourne lost Harvey for a duck but the partnership between Finch and Maddinson helped them score runs at the required rate as they scored 130 runs in 13 overs. But the wicket of Maddinson the team lost wiciets at regular intervals and eventually ended up 21 runs short.
Finch(68) and Maddinson (67) played really well, but the contribution from the other batsmen didn’t help the side. With this win, Perth Scorchers are still unbeaten in the tournament and are the table topper whereas Melbourne Renegades are at the bottom of the table.
