Not long ago, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) hit the headlines after clinching a record-equalling 5th Indian Premier League title. Chennai achieved the IPL 2023 title following a remarkable triumph over Gujarat Titans in the Final, occurring on the 28th of May. It was a clinical performance from the Chennai-based side in a highly competitive tournament which ultimately helped them bag yet another IPL title.
Chennai Super Kings had an overly substandard outing in the last year’s IPL season. Failing to qualify for the playoffs, the MS Dhoni-led team finished 9th in the points tally. A strong fightback from Chennai was always expected and the team did not disappoint the fans. Moreover, with notable young players putting their hands up time and again, the future of Chennai Super Kings appears bright.
MS Dhoni Never Complained About His Knee: Kasi Viswanathan
Meanwhile, Kasi Viswanathan, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Chennai Super Kings opened up on MS Dhoni’s occurring knee injury. In a recent interaction with ESPNcricinfo, Viswanathan confessed that the management knew that Dhoni was struggling with a knee injury. However, the wicketkeeper never complained about the injury. The CEO further praised the CSK skipper for his commitment to the franchise.
“We never asked him things like ‘Do you want to play or do you want to sit out.’ If he can’t, he would’ve told us straight away. We knew it was a struggle for him to play, but his commitment to the team, his leadership, and how the team benefits everyone knows. From that perspective, you have to appreciate him,” stated Kasi Viswanathan
“Till the final, he never complained about his knee to anybody. Though everyone knew, and you would’ve seen him struggling while running, he never complained even once. After the final, he said, ‘Okay, I’ll have surgery.’ He’s finished his surgery, he’s quite happy, he’s recovering,” the CEO of CSK further added
As reported earlier, MS Dhoni struggled with a right knee injury throughout a major chunk of the last Indian Premier League season. Dhoni underwent knee surgery recently after the conclusion of the season and is currently rehabbing. Amid all sorts of speculations, the wicketkeeper confirmed that he will remain available for the next IPL season, provided his fitness allows him to play.
