The highly-anticipated 2023-24 edition of the Big Bash League will officially commence on December 7 with a clash between Brisbane Heat and Melbourne Stars at The Gabba. The prominent Australian T20 competition is set to occur during a 48-day window with the grand finale scheduled on January 24, possibly at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground.
Big Bash League, surprisingly, was recently shortened by Cricket Australia ahead of the new broadcasting rights deal. Big Bash League 2023-24 will now comprise a total of 44 fixtures, which includes playoff affairs, while the last few seasons of the marquee Australian league featured a whopping 61 games.
Big Bash League 2023-24 Teams:
- Sydney Sixers
- Sydney Thunder
- Perth Scorchers
- Adelaide Strikers
- Hobart Hurricanes
- Brisbane Heat
- Melbourne Stars
- Melbourne Renegades
According to the new format, all ten teams will play matches in the league stage of the Big Bash League 2023-24 before the start of the playoffs. The Australian Cricket Board’s progressive move of reduced BBL seasons was highly appreciated by cricket fanatics.
