BAN vs IND: The first match of the much-anticipated Test series between Bangladesh and India is currently underway in Chittagong. The high-octane series is part of the proceeding World Test Championship cycle (2021-23) and is bound to play a significant role in India’s possible qualification for the Final. Despite being visitors, the KL Rahul-led Indian team heads into the outing as runaway favorites.
“We will bat first. It looks like a good wicket, put runs on the board and hope that the wicket breaks, use the foot-marks later on, and try and see if we can take 20 wickets. There have been a few injuries, obviously, we miss our captain Rohit and a few others but that gives opportunities to other guys.” said stand-in captain KL Rahul after making a correct call at the toss
Winning the toss and batting first has been a pretty wavering start for the Indian team upfront. India has lost four key wickets of top-order batters heading into the 33rd over of the match. As things stand, The team has managed to score 123 runs and will now eye on piling up partnerships on what appears to be a challenging surface. On the other hand, Bangladesh will be desperate to continue the momentum and bag a few more dismissals.
Virat Kohli wastes a crucial review of the team!
Meanwhile, Virat Kohli’s dismissal remained a big talking point in the first session of the match. The middle-order batsman was trapped in front of the stumps by Bangladesh’s emerging spinner Taijul Islam. The episode occurred in the 20th over of the match while the Indian team was in the rebuilding phase. Nonetheless, Kohli going on to take a referral on what appeared to be a plumb dismissal surprised a lot of fans.
After the confirmation on the big screen, disappointed Virat Kohli had a long way back to the dressing room. He faced just five deliveries and scored one run before suffering the dismissal. The middle-order batter further looked in decent form in the recently-concluded ODI series of the exact tour. He slammed a quickfire century in the third ODI back on December 10 (Saturday).
