Asia Cup 2023: Following the conclusion of the Group Stage, the 16th edition of the Asia Cup is now gradually heading into its business end. Pakistan and India from Group A, while Sri Lanka and Bangladesh from Group B, displayed stellar performance in the group stage to qualify for the Super Four leg of the tournament. The exact four qualified teams will square off against each other once in the Super 4 leg of the competition, before the Final occurs on September 17.

Team India’s proceedings in the Super Four leg of Asia Cup 2023 are set to commence with a clash against Pakistan. India are all geared up to take on arch-rivals Pakistan in a highly-anticipated fixture, transpiring at Colombo’s R Premadasa Stadium, this Sunday. The two rival teams had faced each other last week in Kandy amid the Asia Cup 2023 Group Stage which unfortunately ended in a washout.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Cricket Board, with the approval of the Asian Cricket Council, has now officially announced a reserve day for the upcoming Super Four clash between India and Pakistan. The weather forecast predicts around 80 percent rain chances in Colombo during the match hours of Sunday’s India-Pakistan clash. Rain is all likely to impact the marquee clash big time if the affair ends in a washout. 

“A reserve day has been added to the India vs Pakistan Super Four game of the Asia Cup on September 10. It is the only match apart from the final to have a reserve day. The change to the playing conditions was announced by PCB, advising spectators to hold on to their tickets should a reserve day be required.” confirmed ESPN via their latest release

A reserve day on Monday, however, will significantly help in the completion of the exact fixture. As per the revised playing conditions, the officials will try to complete the India vs Pakistan game on Sunday, even if it requires a reduction of overs. In case the action shifts to the reserve day, the play will begin where it ended on the original match day. Moreover, the reserve day has not been added to any other fixture in the Asia Cup 2023 except for the Final.
