In the 14th match of IPL 2022, between Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune, India fans witnessed some brutal hitting from Pollard and Pat Cummins.
Pat Cummins steal the show with his brilliant firepower 56 runs off just 15 balls. After the spectacular victory, Andre Russell was seen in a groovy mood which was loved by the fans.
Kolkata Knight Riders captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and invited Mumbai Indians to bat first. Mumbai openers Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan had a rough start as they were not able to time the shots well. Umesh Yadav got rid of Rohit in the 3rd over of the match with a bouncer.
Dewald Brevis played a cameo knock of 29 runs off 19 balls on debut. On the other side, Ishan Kishan too played a bizarre inning which eventually put more pressure on the Mumbai Indians team.
But it was the 83 runs partnership between Surya Kumar Yadav and Tilak Varma that brought back some momentum for Mumbai in the innings. And in the end, Pollard’s 22 off 5 balls helped Mumbai post 161 runs in their 20 overs.
In response, Kolkata had a similar start where the openers struggled in the starting, and eventually, Rahane got out on a bouncer. Captain Shreyas Iyer was once again trapped in a short ball as he couldn’t roll his wrists over the pull shot.
From one end, Venkatesh Iyer was solid but at another end, Kolkata lost wickets at regular intervals. Even Russell fell in the short ball trap and was caught at a backward point. The game was evenly balanced but then came Pat Cummins.
Pat Cummins played an innings to be remembered for a long time as he has scored the joint-fastest IPL fifty. He scored fifty in 14 balls and took the match and 2 points away from Mumbai in a short period.
