A Spectator suffered an injury on the forehead after McDermott’s six during the game between Hobart Hurricanes and Perth Scorchers on Tuesday, December 14th.

This incident happened in the 12th game of the BBL season between Hobart Hurricanes and Perth Scorchers in Bellerive Oval. In the 8th overs bowled by Andrew Tye, Hurricanes batter Ben McDermott smashed the ball for a mighty six which the spectator tried to catch.

The spectator tried to catch the ball but unfortunately wasn’t able to properly get his hand under the ball and the ball directly crashed into his Forehand, leaving him bloodied on the right side of the head.
Commentators said
“Oh no. He’s got a bit of blood. We need some medic. He didn’t even realize.” On the other hand, channel 7 commentator, Jason Richardson said, “Hopefully he is all ok. He’s in the hands of the medics. He was surprised wasn’t he.”

Aston Turner, Scorchers Skipper won the toss and elected to bat first. But the Scorchers got a setback in the very first over where the centurion of the last match Colin Munro was sent back to the pavilion for a duck. Just at the end of the power-play they also lost the second opener and the pressure was on Scorchers.
Mitchell Marsh the World Cup Winner played the first game for Scorchers and showed his class by scoring a brilliant 100 off 60 deliveries. His innings consisted of 6 fours and 5 sixes. He has been well supported by Laurie Evans from the other end, who contributed 40 runs and helped the team to post 182 runs on the board.
The momentum was with the Scorchers at the end of 1st innings and the bowlers of Scorchers utilized it best as Hurricanes were totally on backfoot as they lost 7 of 2. A partnership between McDermot and Short helped them recover but with the wicket of McDermott the Scorchers grabbed the game as
Hurricanes had a collapse as the lost 7 wickets for 88 runs.
And eventually, the innings ended with 129 runs and Perth Scorchers won the match by a big margin of 53 runs and registered their 3 wins on the trot.
