Indian cricket team is currently in England for an important assignment. They are set to play against England in a five match test series full stop the first test series will begin at Trent Bridge on August 4. However, the BCCI also has a limited overs series against Sri Lanka in July. BCCI has already decided on India’s second Squad for the Sri Lankan limited-overs tour.
This tour will be an opportunity for many young players to prove their selection in Indian team. This team is a perfect blend of experience and young players. The team will be led by Shikhar Dhawan whereas Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been appointed as vice captain of the team. The head coach for this team will be e then other than Rahul Dravid.
The decision by BCCI to send a s team for the Sri Lankan tour is very applauding considering that India has so many talented players. However former Sri Lankan captain Arjuna Ranatunga didn’t like this decision by the BCCI. He criticised the BCCI for sending a second team to play the Sri Lankan tour. He believes that India has insulted them by sending another team for the tour. The former skipper also blame Sri Lankan cricket board to go ahead with this series acknowledging that they after ‘television marketing needs’.
5 Sri Lankan players refuse to play home assignment against India
Meanwhile according to the reports as many as five players have refused to play against India in the upcoming series. It has been confirmed that there has been a contract dispute between the Sri Lankan Cricket Board and some players. Five players from the team have refused to sign the contract, besides that these 5 players have also refused to play against India in the series. The names of the five players are Lasith Embuldenia, Lahiru Kumara, Vishwa Fernando, Ashen Bandara, and Kasun Rajitha.
SLC cautiously warned these players to sign the contract and enter the bio bubble. But they didn’t listen to SLC as they totally refused to sign the contract. The Sri Lankan Cricket Board CEO Ashley D’Silva mentioned that these players could be taken into consideration for the upcoming series against India if they sign the contract. This limited-overs tour in Sri Lanka consists of 3 ODIs and 3 T20s.
